                          Welcome to the Liberty City Fire Department

                          Welcome to the official website of the Liberty City Fire Department(FDLC). The FDLC was founded on May 25, 1868. Our mission is to serve and protect the citizens of the city of Liberty City with professional fire and emergency response to save lives and protect property. The Liberty City Fire Department currently protects approximately 218,538 residents, which can rise to over 350,000 during the working hours, in an area of approximately 18.5 square miles in size. The FDLC provides fire suppression, fire education, fire prevention, fire investigation, motor vehicle extrication, technical rescue, high-angle and below-grade rescue, confined-space rescue, hazardous materials spill response, urban search and rescue, collapse rescue, dive water rescue, urban search and rescue(USAR), and first responder emergency medical services(EMS) 24/7, 365. We currently operate out of 12 Fire Stations, strategically-located throughout the city, and utilize a fire apparatus fleet of 11 Engines, 6 Trucks, 1 Squad, 1 Rescue, and numerous other special, support, and reserve units in 3 Battalions. The FDLC has over 350 full-time, professional firefighters who operate in 4 rotating shifts or platoons, each made up of a 24-hours on, 72 hours off tour of duty. Last year, the Liberty City Fire Department responded to over 39,000 dispatched emergency calls, 80% of which are medical-related, while maintaining a 2-3 minute response time. The Liberty City Fire Department is always ready to serve you!
